The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) was founded in 1916 to accredit schools of business worldwide. The first accreditations took place in 1919. The stated mission is to advance quality management education worldwide through accreditation, thought leadership, and value-added services. It is regarded as the benchmark for business school quality among the academic community. Today, there are 649 business schools in 43 countries and 178 accounting programs in 6 countries with AACSB accreditation, including those of Harvard University, Stanford University, Yale University, UC Berkeley, New York University, London Business School and Keio University. It is also commonly understood in the business industry that AACSB accreditation is one of the world’s most selective and rigorous types of evaluation for business schools. AACSB accreditation assures quality and promotes excellence and continuous improvement in undergraduate and graduate education for business administration. Its accreditation is a process of voluntary and non-governmental review of educational institutions and programs, with demanding standards that challenge schools to pursue continuous improvement. The accredited business schools achieve appropriate mission through relevant curricula, qualified faculty, and effective policies and practices. The NCKU College of Management has been a member of AACSB since December 2005, has become officially accredited in December 2011,also has awarded the continuous acceiditation in April 2017,and will continue to push forward in AACSB maintenance of accreditation in the years to come.
