Governance of the College and Educational Philosophy
Since its establishment in 1956, our college has thrived under the outstanding leadership of successive deans. Nearly two hundred dedicated faculty and staff members work together, each fulfilling their roles, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the college. We are proud to be one of Taiwan’s few management colleges with a rich history and a forward-looking vision that keeps pace with global trends in business research. Our academic culture blends historical heritage with modern management wisdom, earning recognition and respect from the business community.
In 2011, our college received accreditation from AACSB, the premier global association for business schools. We successfully passed AACSB reaccreditation in both 2017 and 2022, and joined the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS), rapidly expanding our international academic connections and collaborative networks.According to the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, our college ranks between 201-250 in "Statistics and Operations Research," "Accounting and Finance," and "Business Management Studies." Specifically, we rank 249th in Social Science & Management and between 151-200 in Business Management.Furthermore, based on the "2024 Top 3000 Enterprise Managers’ Willingness to Enroll in EMBA" survey by Cheers magazine, our EMBA program ranks 6th nationwide. The 2025 QS Global EMBA Rankings place our program 203rd worldwide and 30th in the Asia-Pacific region (https://www.qschina.cn/university-rankings/emba-rankings/asia/2025). Additionally, according to the 2021 survey by Global Views Monthly and 104 Job Bank, our business programs rank 3rd nationally in employer preference for graduates. Overall, these domestic and international rankings highlight our college’s outstanding academic performance and well-recognized achievements.
Facing the challenges and uncertainties brought by the rapidly changing AI era, the College of Management at NCKU has established its mission: “Upholding a pragmatic academic spirit and tradition, we strive in a globalized economy to cultivate students into business leaders with professional competence and social responsibility through rigorous inquiry, integrated innovation, and a vision toward excellence. Furthermore, we aim to expand knowledge in the field of management.” This mission is the core goal we unanimously uphold. My administrative philosophy is summed up as: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” Our college has a unique structure, different from traditional business schools, and this diversity is our strength in navigating a complex, ever-shifting world. It gives us fresh perspectives and flexibility to blend ideas from various fields, leading to forward-thinking and competitive academic and practical achievements. We not only adapt to change but also seize opportunities to innovate across disciplines and lead transformative progress, building a truly distinctive and impactful college. NCKU’s College of Management will incorporate more data and information for precise decision-making, identifying issues and enhancing overall governance efficiency. The overall operations are planned around “Five Core Development Dimensions” and “Three Governance Strategies” as the main action axes as follows:
Five Core Development Dimensions
- Strengthening Education
- Implement talent recruitment, cultivation, and retention strategies to promote knowledge transfer and experience sharing.
- Encourage curriculum sharing and combining resources to break down silos and work together.
- Arrange for excellent retired professors to teach part-time, and bring in alumni from in-service programs and industry experts to share real-world insights.
- Leverage interdisciplinary educational resources across different colleges within the university to cultivate leaders with broad vision and practical competitiveness.

- Bring together talent at the college, introduce fresh perspectives, and strengthen interdisciplinary research skills.
- Encourage faculty to take on leadership roles in domestic and international academic societies, focusing on developing key areas of expertise.
- Offer concrete support to encourage publishing in leading journals and competing for academic honors.
Three Governance Strategies
In the context of rapid environmental changes, supporting young faculty and nurturing the next generation of leadership and management talent are key to the sustainable academic development of the college. We plan to implement the following three governance strategies, hoping to build a supportive and prosperous academic community through practical measures:
- Building Consensus and Fostering Teamwork
Guided by five core development dimensions, the college will leverage regular meetings and structured communication channels to enhance cooperation across departments and foster strategic consensus with global partners, maximizing team synergy and creating results “greater than the sum of their parts.”
- Passing On Wisdom, Achieving Mutual Success
Promote the sharing of experience by senior faculty and establish institutionalized mentoring mechanisms to help young faculty develop steadily in teaching and research, overcoming obstacles, advancing in rank, and planning their careers—thereby fostering smooth generational succession and long-term sustainability.
- Sharing Resources, Energizing Spaces
Breaking spatial limitations, we aim to optimize the utilization efficiency of teaching and research facilities, with particular support for large classes and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through better integration of our internal resources and active pursuit of new space opportunities beyond the college, we ensure that every resource achieves its fullest potential.
Key Strategies and Vision
At the College of Management, NCKU, we are a vibrant community—diverse in talent, rich in expertise, and united by a shared purpose. In a university renowned for technological excellence, we are poised to become a central hub for cross-disciplinary collaboration and system integration. Drawing on the wisdom of advisory committees and external partners, we will turn recommendations into action, drive continuous innovation, and strengthen our capabilities in data-driven decision-making and intelligent management. By strategically integrating our human, financial, spatial, and digital resources, we will lay a solid foundation for sustainable development.Together, we will build a warm, collaborative environment, achieve shared success, and create greater value for our students, faculty, and society.
